L train service will continue as normal during peak and midday weekday times. Service on the L train will be reduced nights and weekends.

This service plan is in effect on nights and weekends through Summer 2020.

Weeknights:

• 10 PM to 5 AM, with service ramping down at 8 PM, L trains run every 20 minutes between Brooklyn and Manhattan and every 10 minutes within Brooklyn. Service will ramp down starting at 8 PM to make room for work trains.
• Overnight, between 1:30 AM and 5 AM, the service runs at its normal frequency, with L trains running every 20 minutes.

Weekends:

• 10 PM Friday until 5 AM Monday, with service ramping down at 8 PM Friday, L trains run 20 minutes between Brooklyn and Manhattan, and every 10 minutes within Brooklyn.
• Overnight, between 1:30 AM and 5 AM, service runs at its normal frequency, with L trains running every 20 minutes.

Union Square Pedestrian Spaces

DOT is proposing permanent pedestrian spaces in Manhattan on:

• Union Square West between 14th and 15th Street
• Union Square West between 16th and 17th Street
• University Place between 13th and 14th Street

University Place will be a shared street, allowing through vehicles to access 13th street, and two blocks of Union Square will be closed to vehicular traffic and dedicated to pedestrian access.

Bike Lane Proposals

12th and 13th Streets

DOT proposing permanent bike lanes on 12th Street eastbound and 13th Street westbound in Manhattan.

Grand Street

To encourage bicycling during the L Train Project, DOT is proposing permanent protected bike lanes in both directions on Grand Street, Brooklyn to ensure cyclist safety along this corridor.

Throughout the summer, DOT will install Citi Bike stations for the Bushwick community in an effort to accommodate residents with a safe and reliable alternative during the L Train Project.
